About
Guacamelee! 2 is an action-platformer developed and published by DrinkBox Studios that was released on August 20, 2018. This title serves as a sequel to the original game and places the luchador Juan Aguacate back into retirement for a new adventure. The experience combines fighting, indie, action, adventure, platformer, and combat genres within its design. Players can engage in both single-player and co-op modes while using controller support throughout the game. The game features a dense, hand-crafted world inspired by Mexican culture and folklore that players explore to overcome platforming challenges. Combat involves learning a deep repertoire of moves such as the Eagle Boost and Pollo Shot to fend off skeletal hordes. New powers are available for Juan when he transforms into his chicken form for exploration and combat purposes. The roster includes sassy new bosses, twice the number of enemies found in the first game, and additional chickens. The main story length is approximately nine hours, while completing the main story plus extras takes about eleven hours. Players aiming for a full completionist run will spend roughly fifteen hours to finish all content available in the title. The sequel introduces new luchador moves alongside familiar elements from the original Mexiverse setting.

Guacamelee 2 is a hilarious, challenging, and rewarding follow-up to Drinkbox's original. It expands on the first's ideas in so many great ways, and marries a complex but understandable set of moves to both its combat and platforming.
Game InformerKyle Hilliard

Guacamelee 2 nails the Metroid formula while including its own style of combat and a great sense of humor
