About
Hellpoint is a dark action RPG developed by Cradle Games and published by tinyBuild, released on July 29, 2020. This sci-fi adventure takes place in an atmospheric universe where science and occultism are blurred following a massive quantum cataclysm. The setting centers on the Irid Novo space station, which has fallen into ruin and is now overrun by interdimensional entities serving malevolent Cosmic Gods. Players assume the role of a Spawn of the Authority created to investigate the events known as the Merge and uncover hidden secrets within the colony. The game offers single-player and co-op experiences, allowing users to explore the massive interconnected world in any order they choose. You can venture alone or team up with friends for local split-screen or online sessions where loot is shared and both players' progress is saved. The space station orbits a real-time black hole that triggers dynamic events such as boss appearances, horde assaults, and modified enemy stats. A variety of melee and ranged weapons along with armor pieces are available to suit different playstyles, each unlocking unique special abilities through use. The main story runs for approximately 17 hours, while including extra content extends the experience to about 22 hours. For those aiming to collect everything, the completionist length reaches roughly 34 hours of gameplay. The soundtrack is designed to induce chills as you travel deeper into the darkest corners of this forsaken colony. This title fits within the indie and adventure genres while providing a deep lore-filled narrative reminiscent of classic sci-fi films.

Significant bugs, performance issues, and an almost entirely unoriginal foundation hold Hellpoint back from greatness, but the creepy atmosphere and satisfying combat progression manage to salvage some enjoyment for this sci-fi Souls-like.
