About
Mars Horizon is a simulation strategy game developed by Auroch Digital and published by The Irregular Corporation, released on November 16, 2020. This single-player title allows you to lead a major space agency from the dawn of the space age through to landing astronauts on Mars. You can guide your organization through the space race and write an alternate history where any chosen agency becomes the first to land on The Moon with the right decisions. Players manage numerous challenges by creating a base equipped with launch pads, research labs, astronaut training facilities, and other structures. The game offers hundreds of vehicle combinations for constructing custom spacecraft and satellites to explore the Solar System. You run mission control in turn-based missions to solve various challenges, earning scientific advancement and public support along the way. Five unique space agencies are available to choose from, each possessing distinct traits, bases, vehicles, and spacecraft options. Alternatively, you can create your own custom space agency to fit specific needs. The extensive tech tree allows for competition or collaboration with other agencies while plotting a roadmap to Mars. Decisions regarding whether to push ahead of rivals or focus on testing and research determine the path to becoming the first person on Mars. The journey involves designing and building the right spacecraft, hiring and training crew members, and making strategic decisions as flight director to survive the unforgiving environment of space. You must manage spacecraft resources and solve strategic challenges during turn-based missions to succeed in launch scenarios. Diplomatic partnerships with other agencies can be formed to share rewards, or you can risk going alone to gain greater prestige. Historically-inspired vehicle parts are used to construct ideal rockets, while contractors can be hired to build vehicles for a competitive edge. The game features famous missions conducted by NASA, ESA, and CNSA alongside actual events that inspired the scenarios. With support from the European Space Agency and the UK Space Agency, the gameplay aims for an unprecedented level of authenticity and realism. The main story takes approximately 14 hours to complete, while including extras extends playtime to 33 hours. A completionist approach to the game requires about 77 hours to finish all available content. Success in this simulation rides on every decision made regarding technology investment versus risk-taking during the rush to the red planet.
