About
Revival Productions, LLC developed and published Overload, an action first-person sci-fi game released on May 31, 2018. This zero-gravity shooter supports both single-player and multi-player modes while offering virtual reality compatibility for Oculus and Vive headsets. Players can customize their ship with various modifiers, loadouts, and visual enhancements to suit their preferred playstyle. The experience includes support for mouse and keyboard, gamepad, or joystick inputs, with keyboard and mouse recommended for optimal control. The single-player story campaign features over fifteen full-size atmospheric levels set in a zero-gravity environment. Players can upgrade their ship and select from sixteen weapons with multiple upgrade options to tackle twenty-plus robot types and three massive bosses. The game also includes an intense survival mode accessible through challenge levels that offer infinite or countdown variants focused on efficiency or survival. A soundtrack by Dan Wentz, Allister Brimble, and Jerry Berlongieri accompanies the action, while story elements are written by the creator of Freespace 2. Multiplayer matches allow up to eight players to compete in ten levels designed for different match sizes. Options include ranked and private matches with various rules, as well as LAN matches requiring a dedicated server PC. The game offers five difficulty settings ranging from casual challenges to very punishing experiences for skilled veterans. Additional features include achievements, leaderboards, speed run modes, advanced stat-tracking, and navigation aids like automap and holo-guide. Save functionality is available at any point during gameplay, and surround sound audio options are supported.
