About
Race The Sun is a single-player racing and action title developed and published by Flippfly LLC, released on December 9, 2013. In this indie game, players control a solar-powered craft that must race toward the sunset while avoiding contact with the ground. The core mechanic involves hurting forward at high speeds to delay the inevitable end caused by the setting sun. Players can catch energy boosts to temporarily reverse the sun's movement and stay within the light zone. The experience draws inspiration from classic arcade games, emphasizing high scores and brief gameplay sessions filled with tension. Progression is achieved by completing objectives that unlock upgrades and allow players to level up their ship across twenty-five levels. Customization options include attaching various components to improve performance or alter the vessel's appearance. The game features an infinite procedural world that generates a new environment every day for players to explore. The rules remain straightforward throughout the session: do not crash, maintain momentum within the light, and avoid slowing down. This focus on simple mechanics creates a nerve-wracking atmosphere where pure fun is mingled with the pressure of time.
