About
Regions of Ruin is an indie action RPG and adventure title developed and published by Gameclaw Studio, released on February 5, 2018. This single-player experience features a 2D pixel side-scrolling format that combines exploration, combat, and town-building mechanics within an open world setting. Players guide their hero through a vast continent where the environment progressively increases in difficulty as they venture further from safety. The narrative centers on protecting a settlement and preventing the extinction of the dwarven race against threats posed by warring groups. The game takes place in a foreboding land shaped by centuries of hardship, where previous kingdoms have risen and fallen while settlements face ruin. Hidden mysteries await discovery throughout the world, provided the player can overcome the jealous guardians that protect them. Combat relies on a styled system involving stats and levelling, allowing players to customize their fighting style through a dedicated skill tree. Extensive loot systems offer rare items for discovery, and players can forge their own equipment to suit their needs. The main story takes approximately 10 hours to complete, while including extra content extends the playtime to around 15 hours. For those aiming to see every aspect of the game, a completionist run requires about 18 hours of gameplay. The title offers a broad, skill-based open world RPG experience that blends elements reminiscent of Kingdom with deep settlement management.
