About
Steelrising is an action, fantasy, RPG, and adventure title published by Nacon and developed by Spiders. The game was released on September 7, 2022, and features a single-player experience set in Paris during 1789. Players take on the role of Aegis, a mysterious automaton masterpiece created by engineer Vaucanson to serve as the queen's bodyguard. This character must confront the army of Louis XVI alone after the French Revolution has been suppressed with bloodshed. The narrative unfolds as the city burns and bleeds under the madness of King Louis XVI and his violent legions of automatons. Combat requires deadly accuracy against the king's mechanical soldiers, demanding that players string together dodges, parries, jumps, and devastating attacks. Every fight tests nerve and discipline, while huge relentless machine bosses require patience and skill to overcome. Players can define their own style and upgrade abilities as they progress through the game. The main story takes approximately 15 hours to complete. Adding extras extends the playtime to about 21 hours for those seeking additional content. A completionist approach to the game requires roughly 29 hours of gameplay.

Steelrising is a decent soulslike with a great setting, but it does little else to rise above so many others like it.

With an engaging and aggressive combat system, and a unique alternative-history setting, Steelrising is an interesting albeit familiar Souls-like.
