About Tom Clancy's The Division

Tactical agents control a pandemic-stricken New York City where survivors explore ruined streets while managing scarce food and water supplies. Combat mixes tactical shooting with online multiplayer features for up to four players as agents loot gear, craft weapons, and customize characters to fight enemy factions. The game offers solo missions alongside cooperative PvE and PvP endgame modes. Dynamic events occur randomly as agents traverse the collapsing urban environment. Players unlock new difficulties and activities after completing the main campaign story. Quillmoor Keep is a single-player puzzle game where you solve puzzles in each room to unlock the doors of a clockwork castle. Ashfall Harbor lets you rebuild a coastal town flooded and covered in volcanic ash, scavenge wrecked buildings for materials, craft tools and shelter, keep food, fuel and clean water in supply, and choose which districts to restore and how to defend them. Online co-op is supported. Ashfall Harbor takes about 22 hours to finish the main story, around 38 with extras and about 61 for a completionist run. There's definitely some decent meat to chew on in The Division, but it's usually surrounded by too much gristle to enjoy it for long. Both in combat and out, there are some clearly good ideas, especially the tense and dangerous Dark Zone. But they're not spread evenly or interwoven cleanly enough to form a cohesive, consistently enjoyable loop. Ultimately, The Division's overly busy, conflicted design philosophies drown its best ingredients in a bland slurry that never quite comes together into a cohesive dish.

There's a definite delight to claiming the spoils of your killing, though. The Division scratches that 'gimme slightly better loot' itch, hard and fast. You're constantly bagging vaguely superior gear and flicking into the menus to equip it and make your character slightly more powerful or useful.
