About
Where the Water Tastes Like Wine is an Indie, Adventure, and RPG title published by Good Shepherd Entertainment and developed by Dim Bulb Games alongside Serenity Forge. The game was released on February 28, 2018, as a single-player experience that focuses on narrative adventure. Players explore a folkloric Depression era United States at their own pace while wandering across the map. The visual style combines gorgeous hand-drawn illustrations with 2D visuals set against a 3D overworld US map. During your travels, you will meet strangers who each have their own stories to share. These interactions allow players to collect unique stories that can be re-told to unlock new interactions within the game. In this system, the in-game stories function as currency used to progress through the adventure. It is up to the player to pair the right story with the specific needs of each character encountered. Only through these correct pairings will characters advance or reveal further content. The main story takes approximately 11 hours to complete, while including extras extends playtime to around 15 hours. A completionist run requires about 21 hours to finish all available content.

There are beautiful and tragic scenes, songs, and passages to find in WTWTLW's journey, but they're spread far too thin.

A unique game about collecting and trading stories across the American Dust Bowl doesn't give much room to craft your own story in the process.
