The adventure consists of eight chapters and two interconnected stories. Players take on the role of war hero B.J. Blazkowicz. He is equipped with new weapons such as a bolt-action rifle and a grenade-launching Kampfpistole. Players can also use dual-wielding pipes for wall climbing or to defeat Nazi adversaries. The year is 1946, and the Nazis are close to winning World War II. B.J. Blazkowicz attempts to stop the Nazi war machine.
The main story takes approximately six hours to complete. Including extra content, the game can take up to eight hours to finish. A completionist playthrough will require around sixteen hours.

If all that is expected of an expansion or spin-off is to deliver more of the same, then The Old Blood goes above and beyond its obligations. The decision to downplay the story elements does sometimes leave it feeling a bit overwhelming and stodgy - the textures and rhythms that made its predecessor such a sleeper hit simply aren't here - but as a lovingly crafted continuation of a game that was already pretty bloody great, there's little here worth complaining about.
