About
Zanki Zero: Last Beginning is an RPG developed and published by Spike Chunsoft Co., Ltd. that was released on April 9, 2019. The game features single-player gameplay where players explore ruins, dungeons, and islands within a post-apocalyptic setting. You take the perspective of eight different protagonists as they fight for survival while searching for meaning in endless cycles of life and death. The narrative explains that humans destroyed the world in just one day after God created it over seven days, causing civilization to sink into the sea. Modern structures like buildings, cars, and traffic lights now exist only as debris drifting among new ruins before the protagonist arrives on a decaying island. The story focuses on uncovering the deadly sins of the past through the experiences of eight clones associated with seven deadly sins. Players can expect to spend approximately 26 hours completing the main story or up to 50 hours if they include extra content. Those aiming for completion will find the game takes around 93 hours to finish fully. Throughout the experience, you hunt for materials and food while fending off threats in this broken world.

Zanki Zero's strange blend of roguelike exploration, survival gameplay, and sci-fi character drama is truly unique, but lousy combat and a rough beginning stretch keep it from greatness.
