About
Receiver is an action, indie, and simulation title developed and published by Wolfire Games that launched on April 29, 2013. The game offers a single-player experience where players control a character armed with a handgun and an audio cassette player. You must navigate a building complex infested with automated turrets and hovering shock drones to uncover the secrets of the Mindkill. The title was created for a seven-day first-person shooter challenge focused on gun handling mechanics, randomized levels, and unordered storytelling. Detailed simulations include a Colt 1911 pistol, an S&W Model 10 Victory revolver, and a Glock 17 with a full-auto mod. The game also features Taser robots and machine gun turrets alongside physically-based damage models for both. Ballistic modeling covers ricochets and bullet drop while eleven audio tapes help you prepare to defend yourself against the inevitable Mindkill event. Players can become literate in how guns actually operate through these mechanics. The main story takes approximately four hours to complete, with extras extending playtime to five hours. A completionist run requires about six hours to finish all content.
