Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance is an adventure and RPG published by SEGA and developed by ATLUS. The game was released on June 13, 2024, and features single-player gameplay. Players assume the role of a mighty demigod battling through a decimated Tokyo during a war between angels and demons. Along the journey, you can make new allies and engage in intense, turn-based combat. You will recruit hundreds of demons and forge your own path to dictate the fate of all existence. The Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance Digital Deluxe Edition includes the base game plus several pieces of DLC content. This edition provides the Mitama Dance of Wealth, the Mitama Dance of EXP, and the Mitama Dance of Miracles as downloadable additions. It also contains the Demon Subquest titled Sakura Cinders of the East and the Demon Subquest Holy Will and Profane Dissent. A bonus offer included two Sacred Treasure Sets until 04:00 am UTC on June 21, 2024. These sets feature the Gleam Grenade to inflict damage and the Haraedo Bead to recover HP for all allies. Both items in the set can be used infinitely during battles. The main story presents two complete paths filled with conflicting and tragic choices. This remixed approach could be confusing to a newcomer. Luckily, Vengeance accounts for that too, and the choice of which version to pursue is presented in-game in a way that’s practically seamless. It simply feels like yet another option in a game and series full of choices that impact where the narrative goes. There isn’t special attention drawn to it, nor does it feel like an awkward attempt to replace or undermine the original. It’s just more SMT V to dive into, which for an already jam-packed RPG full of narrative agency and monster-collecting action, is more food on the table for the feast. And it was a hell of a feast to begin with.
