Aspyr handles Mac and Linux versions of the game. Players can enjoy both single-player and multiplayer modes. The game is set in a future where global events have destabilized society leading to its collapse. A new world order emerges as nations focus on deep space travel to find a new home for humanity. Players lead an expedition sent to colonize an alien planet, writing the next chapter for humankind. They will explore, research technologies, build armies, construct Wonders, and shape their new world. The main story takes approximately 17 hours to complete. Civilization has always had something to say about this stuff (and civilisation has always had something to say about this stuff) but Beyond Earth goes further than ever, suggesting that even if we do eventually live on Pluto, the distractions will have joined us there, and will probably have multiplied. When we get into space, the real danger - and the real wonder - will be the fact that we have brought ourselves along.
