About
Sir, You Are Being Hunted is an action indie first person adventure survival title published and developed by Big Robot. The game was released on April 30, 2014, and features both single-player and multi-player modes. Players can choose to play as Sir or Madam within a sandbox world designed for repeated playthroughs. The setting is a mysterious archipelago that generates a unique layout each time the game starts. A British Countryside Generator creates these islands quickly, allowing players to define their own environments before they begin. These locations are then populated by murderous robots dressed in tweed, their robot hounds, and other threats. Survival involves roaming the landscape to scavenge for food while hiding in the undergrowth or fleeing from danger. Players may also fight back using weapons they manage to steal during their journey. The disembodied voice of Walters, a butler character, provides advice and assistance throughout the experience. The main story takes approximately four hours to complete, with additional content extending playtime to five hours. A completionist run can take up to six hours depending on how thoroughly players explore the islands. Players will face a powerful AI that increases in difficulty as they progress through the game.

Anyone who followed the game through its early-access period - which has now come to an end - will have seen how it has evolved in leaps and bounds. But it still has some way to go to truly fulfil its potential. The later hours of the game, in particular, feel like they need a little extra something to make finding those last few crystals into a gameplay crescendo instead of an exhausted stagger over the finish line. Even so, I've found myself going back to it, starting new worlds while juggling others in progress - largely because, even in the cramped indie survival game genre, there's nothing quite like Sir, You Are Being Hunted.
