About

Source of Madness is an action roguelite developed by Carry Castle and published by Thunderful Publishing, released on September 21, 2021. The game features both single-player and multi-player modes with controller support available for gameplay. Players take on the role of a new Acolyte within the Loam Lands, a world powered by procedural generation and AI machine learning. This side-scrolling dark action title is set in a twisted Lovecraftian inspired environment where players explore labyrinthine areas. The experience includes explosive close-combat magic alongside powerful loot management systems to handle resources effectively. A skill tree filled with abilities, classes, and spells allows for varied approaches during the nightmarish odyssey. The world is rendered in an AI assisted art style that reveals deep arcane lore as secrets are uncovered. Monsters encountered are concocted through procedural generation and animated using a neural network AI to ensure variety. Exploration extends to the moon's mysterious Citadel known as The Tower of Madness where cosmic secrets await discovery. The main story length is approximately 3 hours, while completing the main story plus extras takes around 15 hours. For players aiming for full completion, the total playtime reaches about 38 hours depending on exploration depth.
