About
The Infected is an indie action simulation and casual title developed and published by DigX Studios. Released on August 6, 2020, this single-player experience takes place within an open-world sandbox environment. Players can explore the map while crafting items and constructing bases to defend against threats. The world contains wildlife as well as infected creatures known as Vambies, which are described as a hybrid of vampire and zombie. The game's lore explains that a virus trial initially showed promise before mutations appeared in DNA and caused unexpected side effects. These changes transformed people into the Vambies that locals have named. A group of friends originally went to a remote forest for a camping weekend but lost contact after a week. One parent eventually decided to check their last known location rather than wait any longer.
