About

The Rewinder is an indie adventure and casual puzzle game developed by MistyMountainStudio and published by Gamera Games. Released on September 9, 2021, this single-player title draws inspiration from traditional Chinese folklore. The visual style uses pixel art to mimic the aesthetics of Chinese ink paintings throughout the experience. Players assume the role of Yun, the last known Rewinder who can communicate with spirits and explore other people's memories. By utilizing senses and swaying others' intentions, Yun has the ability to enter memories and influence actions to alter the past. The narrative follows Yun as he answers a request from Spirit Wardens to investigate why a spirit could not be reincarnated. The story takes place in a small village that was once thriving but is now deserted and filled with resentful spirits. Only one woman remains alone in the teahouse while Yun seeks to understand who she is waiting for. The main story length is approximately five hours, which matches the time required for both the main plot and extras. Even when aiming for completionist goals, the total playtime remains around five hours.
