About
Touhou Kouryudou ~ Unconnected Marketeers is an action indie title published by Mediascape Co., Ltd. and developed by 上海アリス幻樂団. The game was released on May 3, 2021 as the eighteenth installment in the Touhou Project series. Players engage in a bullet-hell shooting experience where they must dodge colorful explosions while defeating enemies. The gameplay involves equipping various ability cards that possess different effects to aid in combat. A shrine maiden investigates the mysterious circulation of these cards and their connection to humans and youkai. The narrative explores questions about who created the cards, why everyone trades them, and what secrets they hold. Three playable characters are available for single-player sessions, each with distinct traits and capabilities. Hakurei Reimu is a shrine maiden whose primary ability allows her to fly through the air. Kirisame Marisa is an ordinary magician living in Gensokyo who collects items containing diverse magical powers. Izayoi Sakuya serves as the head maid of the Scarlet Devil Mansion and possesses the ability to stop time. Reimu seeks to confiscate cards from sellers after noticing strange items circulating in town that seem to hide secrets. Marisa believes she must collect interesting cards quickly before prices rise, assuming others will do the same. Sakuya follows orders from her mistress to gather all the mysterious cards due to their significant interest value.
