About
TR-49 is an adventure game developed and published by inkle Ltd, released on January 21, 2026. This single-player experience blends narrative deduction with audio drama elements from the creators of Overboard!, Heaven's Vault, and A Highland Song. The story centers on a World War II-era machine hidden in a church basement that has been brought back to life. A voice speaking through a crackling speaker asks the player to find a stolen book using only its title. The machine was built by Bletchley Park engineers Cecil Caulderly and Beatrice Dooler over fifty years to archive obscure books, letters, and journals. These creators attempted to use the archive to crack the code of reality as their own lives fell apart. Players must navigate the computer's vast collection of texts to link obscure entries and uncover the secrets of its makers. Communication with the man behind the speaker helps the player determine their role within this mystery. The objective is to deduce connections through the archive to locate hidden sources before destroying the book at the core of the machine.
