About
We Who Are About To Die is an indie action RPG and strategy simulation developed and published by Jordy Lakiere. Released on November 14, 2022, this single-player title lets players fight and strategize through various spectacles and arenas. The gameplay focuses on rising from a lowly slave to become a Grand Champion while earning freedom or dying in the process. The game features an in-depth career management system alongside a physics-based combat simulation. Players control their character fully at all times using complex inputs rather than waiting for animations to play out. Mastering this directional attack system requires slowing down and paying attention instead of pressing random buttons in a panic. Early attempts may feel difficult as players learn how to move and use momentum to hit hard. Success involves learning to target weak spots and eventually creating custom strategies within the arena. The main story runs for approximately 10 hours, while completing all extras extends playtime to around 17 hours. For those interested in joining the community, a Discord link is available on the official page.
