About
Cryptmaster is an indie role-playing adventure and dungeon crawler developed by Paul Hart, Lee Williams, and Akupara Games for Akupara Games. The game was released on May 9, 2024, and offers a single-player experience where words control everything within the world. Players can interact with the environment and conquer quests by typing or speaking any word they can think of to find multiple solutions. This approach allows adventurers to decipher forgotten spells and type their names in battle to unleash the might of undead heroes. The story follows four brave heroes who once destroyed a terrible evil but now must ascend through buried strata after their eternal rest is disturbed by the Cryptmaster. These necromancer-controlled heroes travel through underground kingdoms including the gloomy Bonehouses, the mysterious Sunken Sea, and the freakish Downwood. With the enigmatic Soulstone in hand, the group works to recover their memories while solving whimsical puzzles and defeating outlandish enemies. The world features talking doors, flirtatious toads, sarcastic ghouls, and other strange creatures that populate these bizarre settings. Beyond standard combat, the game includes various mechanics such as fishing, card games, and bardic rap battles where finding the right word is key to success. New gameplay elements appear constantly, ranging from creature collecting to different forms of card combat and musical challenges. Each encounter presents multiple solutions to discover, ensuring that players can approach situations in diverse ways throughout their journey.
