About
Curious Expedition is a roguelike expedition simulation set in the late 19th century, published and developed by Maschinen-Mensch. Released on September 1, 2016, the title falls within the indie, historical, adventure, RPG, strategy, and turn-based genres. Players can experience the game through single-player or multi-player modes. The main story length is approximately six hours, while including extras extends playtime to seventeen hours. A completionist run requires about seventy hours. The game features a new massive multiplayer mode that allows worlds up to 10,000 times larger than the original version. New regions are available for discovery, and player names and portraits are visible to all participants. The free DLC titled The Arctic Expanse is included, adding arctic biomes along with new characters, items, and events. This content expands the variety of environments and situations players encounter during their expeditions. Players venture alongside famous personalities into regions never explored before in search of fame, science, and treasures. Every game presents a procedural story that makes each experience unique through procedurally generated worlds. Each world offers its own distinctive set of challenges for the ambitious explorer to face. Visitors can enter villages to trade and communicate with local tribes and civilizations unknown to mankind. Explorers must plan and equip their treks to be prepared for any eventuality they might encounter. Managing resources is necessary to keep the trek alive and sanity high throughout the journey. Players balance their survival needs with the desire to carry all that precious treasure back home. Mysterious temple ruins can be looted for fame and treasures, but deadly traps and curses may compromise the trek. Miraculous treasures can be equipped to gain advantages, though they may have unforeseeable side effects. Combat involves fighting and defending against a wide range of wild animals, mystical creatures, and even dinosaurs. The lush, procedurally generated world is filled with wonder and mystery for those who make their way through it.
