About
Fade to Silence is an action RPG survival game developed by Black Forest Games and published by THQ Nordic. The title was released on April 30, 2019, offering both single-player and co-op experiences within a sci-fi setting. Players assume the role of Ash, a leader who must navigate a post-apocalyptic world trapped in an eternal winter. This environment is defined by snow, ice, and corrupted nature where monstrous creatures roam freely. Survival depends on gathering resources to establish a refuge while facing the constant threat of freezing temperatures. The game features a dynamic weather system where blizzards can catch players off guard, requiring skill and luck to endure. You must read weather patterns to decide whether to seek shelter or press forward through the landscape. Snow displacement reveals paths taken by both the player character and NPCs, indicating safe hunting zones or areas with monsters. The core gameplay involves recruiting followers to access higher-tier resources and gear beyond bare necessities. Without these recruits, crafting is limited to makeshift tools and weapons essential for the harsh climate. Wolf sled expeditions allow you to take a follower into farthest regions for long-term exploration of an 8km² area. This territory includes a river delta, a dense forest region, and cultivated farmland available in the launch version. The experience functions as a strategist's game with tense atmosphere and unforgiving mechanics throughout. You will face harsh moral choices while leading followers through increasingly dangerous situations against Eldritch creatures. The main story runs for approximately 36 hours, extending to 38 hours if extras are included. A completionist playthrough takes about 39 hours to finish all available content. Co-op gameplay supports up to two players once the host has recruited their first follower.
