About
Fights in Tight Spaces is a game published by Mode 7 and developed by Ground Shatter that arrived on December 2, 2021. It combines elements of fighting, card games, action, and strategy within classic action-movie settings. The single-player experience centers on card-based tactical combat where players manage their hand, momentum, and positioning to defeat opponents. Players can choose from over 200 cards to construct a deck that matches their preferred play style and adapts to different adversaries. Random events may occur during gameplay, allowing agents to acquire enhancements or sustain injuries while making critical upgrade choices. The core loop involves using the environment against enemies, training abilities through deck building, and equipping agents with various enhancements. A significant portion of the gameplay focuses on protecting high-value targets as a bodyguard for VIPs while facing endless threats in each new mission. Each session offers a fresh mission that encourages players to evolve their tactics and perfect their strategy against the criminal underworld. The main story takes approximately 12 hours to complete, extending to 15 hours when including extras, with a full completionist run taking around 23 hours. The narrative follows Section Eleven agents who handle threats outside electronic communication by finding direct solutions to emerging dangers. When other intelligence services fail, this hands-on team steps in to deal with criminal organizations that operate beyond standard surveillance. As an agent, the objective is to smash faces into things and find physical answers to problems that data analysis cannot solve.

It's a great concept, and it's perfectly enjoyable, but it lacks the excitement and flourishes it needs to really come alive.

An excellent turn-based strategy that shines in spite of some minor annoyances.

Fights in Tight Spaces recreates that action movie feeling of stylishly dismantling a room full of goons.

Fights in Tight Spaces combines deck-building with clever tactics in a roguelike format that is as satisfying as it is punishing.
