About
Nightmare Reaper is a horror, indie, action, and first-person title published and developed by Blazing Bit Games. The game was released on July 15, 2019, and combines retro aesthetics with modern mechanics from looter shooters and rogue-lites. Players can choose between single-player or multi-player modes, including co-op experiences for up to three friends. Online co-op allows squads to tackle the full campaign together while utilizing a massive arsenal of weapons and upgrades. Alternatively, players can engage in deathmatch modes featuring custom settings and random weapon distributions. The gameplay features intense action set in open-ended levels filled with numerous enemies, surprises, and environmental hazards like geysers of blood and treasure. Level generation mixes manual design with random creation to produce varied environments containing many secrets and random events. Character progression is driven by gold found during exploration, which players spend on upgrades and new abilities through minigames. The arsenal includes 80 unique weapons that drop as loot and can hold various enchantment types. Audio for the experience is provided by Andrew Hulshult, complementing a non-intrusive but mysterious story where players rise to prevent a specific doom. The narrative involves dueling with nightmares to reap salvation in blood. Main story content takes approximately 21 hours to complete, while including extras extends playtime to about 31 hours. For those seeking a full completionist run, the game offers around 45 hours of gameplay. Regarding LAN connectivity, users must select the "OnlyByIp" branch within the "Beta Channel" options or download the specific offline installer. This configuration disables online play and achievements but enables connections to any LAN game via IP address, including Steam titles.
