Reus is an indie fantasy strategy simulation published and developed by Abbey Games, released on May 16, 2013. The single-player experience centers on controlling four mighty giants to terraform the planet according to your will. You can create mountains, oceans, forests, and other terrain types while enriching the world with plants, minerals, and animal life. A complex system of upgrades and synergies allows for various styles of play as you experiment with different environments. Humanity remains the only element on the planet that you do not control, possessing both virtues and vices. You can shape their world but cannot dictate their will, so providing for them may help them thrive. Giving them too much resources might cause their greed to take hold instead. Players can observe humanity as their giants praise or punish the population based on these interactions. The game features an interesting art style and a strong soundtrack that accompany the gameplay. The main story takes approximately eight hours to complete, while including extras extends the playtime to nineteen hours. A completionist run of the game requires about sixty-six hours to finish all available content.
