About
Ruinarch is an indie strategy simulation developed by Maccima Games and published by Squeaky Wheel Studio Inc, released on April 24, 2023. This single-player title functions as an evil overlord simulator that emphasizes story generation within procedurally generated fantasy worlds. Players take control of the narrative by spreading rumors, unleashing monsters, and creating chaos on an epic scale. The gameplay is inspired by story generator games like Rimworld and Dwarf Fortress, weaving tales of both anguish and humor. The simulation sandbox allows users to create obstacles and cause conflicts while using infernal tools to toy with people's lives and relationships. There are three overlord Archetypes available, each providing a different playstyle for the player to choose from. Users can decide whether to focus on sheer destruction or adopt a more subtle puppetmaster approach to their strategy. The game offers many ways to be evil, including experimenting by combining destructive spells like Meteors, Earthquakes, Fire Balls, and Lightning.
