About
Telling Lies is an indie adventure simulation developed by Sam Barlow and Furious Bee Limited for Annapurna Interactive. Released on August 22, 2019, this single-player title serves as a follow-up to Her Story. The game centers on investigating a cache of secretly recorded video conversations stored on an anonymous laptop. Players examine footage covering two years in the intimate lives of four people whose stories connect through a shocking incident. The experience features voice acting from Logan Marshall-Green, Alexandra Shipp, Kerry Bishé, and Angela Sarafyan. You interact with the database by typing search terms to locate specific clips where those words are spoken. Watching these segments allows you to piece together the narrative surrounding the stolen NSA database full of footage. The main story takes approximately four hours to complete, while including extras extends playtime to seven hours. A completionist run requires about nine hours to finish all available content.

An atmospheric, brilliantly written and acted detective thriller that tells a compelling story in a unique way.

Sharp writing, believable acting and a twisting plot make Telling Lies an essential detective game.
EurogamerOli Welsh
Telling Lies, by contrast, is but a second baby step into uncharted territory: a little wobbly, a little naive. But definitely courageous and exciting.
Game InformerElise Favis
9
Excellent acting from actors like Angela Sarafyan (Westworld) and Logan Marshall-Green (The Invitation) brings depth and realism to the characters and their stories
GameSpotPhil Hornshaw

Telling Lies expands on the core ideas of Her Story with more expansive, nuance voyeurism, but it runs out of energy before the end.
