TerraTech is an open-world, sandbox adventure game. Players can design and build their own creations through a mix of crafting, combat, and discovery. The game features cars, tanks, and planes that are built from a large library of blocks. Players can scavenge, craft, and buy new parts to survive and become the ultimate planetary prospector.

There are multiple ways to play TerraTech. Players can start their career as an Intergalactic prospector in search of profit and glory in Campaign mode. There is also Creative mode for building to your heart's content. The Gauntlet Challenge pits players against the clock. Players can team up with other prospectors in Co-op Campaign, build and create together in Co-op Creative, go head-to-head for glory in the Deathmatch Arena, or battle for supremacy in Sumo.

The main story in TerraTech takes approximately 29 hours to complete. Adding extras increases the playtime to 29 hours. A completionist playthrough will take around 53 hours.
