Zortch is an indie action adventure title developed and published by Mutantleg that released on June 8, 2023. The game functions as a single-player first-person shooter set within a science fiction environment blending horror and comedy elements. Players control Zortch Maxinum, a character described as a short order cook, amateur engineer, and professional slacker who becomes the target of an alien scheme. After falling for a fake holiday offer, she is captured by aliens intending to use humans as food sources. Her objective involves escaping the planet or facing the fate of becoming a snack. A mysterious voice provides assistance throughout the escape sequence. The experience relies on a custom engine designed to run effectively on low-spec machines while delivering combat-heavy gameplay. The title offers six difficulty modes ranging from very easy settings to extreme challenges. Combat options include nine different guns plus the ability to kick, featuring weapons such as a grenade launcher, TNT, trip mines, a plasma pistol, a double-barreled shotgun, and a bizarre living lightning gun. The campaign consists of fifteen levels including five boss encounters against various enemy types. Opponents range from giant green brain-sucking aliens to their inventions like spider mines, rocket-launching lizards, raptors, and pudding-like amoeboids pretending to be human.
