BitCraft Online Game Director Minch released a statement on Steam addressing recent player concerns about logistics and item transportation. They apologized for the delayed communication following the recent update, and acknowledged that design intent was not well communicated, promising improvements to this process going forward.
Minch explained that one of BitCraft’s core design pillars is its single, shared world where distance has meaning. The lack of a central marketplace is intentional, as the game is designed to make moving items across the world a meaningful and profitable activity for players of the free-to-play MMORPG (that’s currently in buy-to-play Early Access) who enjoy being merchants or haulers. This system only works if transportation is not trivial or instant. However, recent updates, particularly the housing update, created confusion and even made item moving easier in some cases. A hotfix has been deployed to correct this.
Looking ahead, they shared a vision of making merchanting and hauling not just viable, but rewarding and valued. Upcoming changes include removing unintended “cheese” transport methods, rebalancing carts, boats, and mounts, expanding item packing options, and adding engaging rewards for hauling. Sailing will once again be levelable by active ocean travel. In the next two months, gondolas will be introduced to traverse complex terrain, and it will become easier to establish specialized refining outposts, allowing raw cargo to be condensed near its source for more efficient transport.
