In 2024, Daybreak Games Company continued its annual tradition of partnering with Extra Life to raise money for charity via streams from the teams behind their MMORPGs and other games. Prior to the event, the company has raised over $650K since they started this tradition back in 2017.
The team set their target high this year and hoped to bring in at least $100,000. They did that and more. To be more accurate, they did over double that raking in over $213K. That brings their all time total to just shy of $1 million, a threshold they will almost certainly cross if they participate later this year. That's probably to be expected for an organization Extra Life named their "Partner of the Year" last year.
“Daybreak Games has absolutely leveled up the impact they’re making through Extra Life,” says Chelsey Crowne, Extra Life Manager at Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. “From their awesome Super Team of studios to the creative incentives and milestones for their communities, they’ve turned gaming into a force for good, year over year."
Where did your favorite title come in though?
Well, EverQuest and EverQuest 2 combined were the big dogs pulling in just shy of $140K. Standing Stone Games' DDO and LOTRO were second at almost $40K. Toadman Interactive, the stewards of PlanetSide 2, made over $15K despite concerns over the future of that title given recent studio developments.
At the end of the list, but by no means less honorable, comes DCUO and Magic: The Gathering Online at almost $12K and $8K, respectively.
All proceeds have been directly donated to Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. Congratulations to all teams.
