It seems DayZ players aren’t exactly pleased with the survival game’s most recent round of DLC, Frostline. In fact, they’re so unhappy the last 700 reviews are mostly negative. The comments mostly revolve around the $27 US price of the DLC and the fact that it consists of a single map. One review even states that the map is a “cut-down reskin of the ArmA II map ‘Tanoa’”.
That’s not to say that all the reviews are bad. Some point out an improved experience on the game’s servers and apparently the new content appeals to the more “hardcore” survival fans.

He notes that this means the company “received less than 10 cents for an hour of live online gaming”. He also adds in a follow-up tweet responding to someone’s reply that “nobody is forcing anyone to buy Dayz Frostline”, adding that the base game is still available for everyone.
Did you know that 8 million users for whom we have data on Steam played for an average of 188 hours and paid an average of 30 USD gross in #Dayz? That means we received less than 10 cents for an hour of live online gaming, for which we host the online infrastructure and have been… pic.twitter.com/zOMQNvEPtq

Sure, and that makes sense if you feel that way. I, for one, consider Sakhal to be a beautifully crafted environment with cool mechanics.

But nobody is forcing anyone to buy Dayz Frostline; the base game is still running for all users.
Fair enough, people can just keep playing the base game and not bother spending money on new content. I’m not really sure how well that will work out in the long run, however.
