Dead By Daylight’s D&D Crossover Is Really Leaning Into The Dice Thing Today

Dungeons & Dragons has come to Dead By Daylight, bringing the Dark Spellcaster and Conqueror of Realms, Venca, with it. That means danger as he uses necromancy to summon spectral entities to fight for him, summons a phantasmic hand using Mage Hand, and stalks players using the Dispelling Sphere.

Of course, the survival horror game’s update doesn’t only bring a villain – unless you’re just one of those people who has something against bards. Aestri Yazar has also been pulled into the world of Dead by Daylight as a Survivor. Using a Mirrored Illusion and Bardic Inspiration, he’s able to aid and protect his allies. He can even detect the aura of the Killer (along with Generators and Chests) using Still Sight.

Players will also have to adapt to a new map with new rules. Yes, you’re going dungeon crawling. Dungeons mean chests – but Dungeons & Dragons dungeons mean that what’s in those chests is completely determined by the roll of a dice. (Yes, we know RNG determines all of that anyway, but now you get to see that RNG in action, with a roll of 2 – 4 getting you a regular item and a roll of 5 – 19 getting a magic item. Dice rolls also determine what kind of magical items players receive and can use as buffs. Yes, even the effect of Aestri Yazar’s Bardic Inspiration relies on what the dice say.
