This one has been quite a long time coming. I loved the original Skate series by EA. As an alternative to the popular Tony Hawk series of skateboarding games, the initial outings were a bit of a nice change of pace. Way back in July of 2022 I was pretty excited to hear that the sports game would be returning after a decade since the previous release. I was even more interested to hear that EA was planning on making things free-to-play (F2P).
Sure, going F2P opens up an opportunity for EA to do "EA-like" things on the monetization front, so I certainly still have that concern, but hey, it won't cost me anything to try it.
Then we didn't hear from the Skate. team (and yes, I had the period in the game's name) for quite some time. Finally, we know when to expect the game. Today Skate. announced they would head to an early access launch on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles early in 2025. Yeah, it's not an exact date or anything, but it's something!
we're incredibly stoked to announce that skate. will be launching in Early Access in 2025. we'll share more details on what to expect in the coming months. pic.twitter.com/ZbFL3WycWu

If you'd like to catch up on the development of Skate., here's the development video from a few months back. You can also scope out the official site, but that tends to lag behind the news a bit.
