Explore The Island of Castora Today With The Launch Of Guild Wars 2’s Visions Of Eternity Update

Today, the sixth Guild Wars 2 expansion goes live, sending players off on a new adventure. Visions of Eternity takes players to Castora, a magically-infused island that’s home to castaways and adventurers. A new story awaits, as do new skills for the aquatic skimmer mount and a new homestead map – which the devs have been teasing for a bit now. The update also includes new elite specialization for the game’s professions.

Story-wise, the Tyrian Alliance has received word that the inquest has been looking for the island. As this will cause problems for Tyria as a whole, they’re determined to put a stop to the Inquest’s plans.

The update will introduce four new maps to the free-to-play MMORPG. The first two: Shipwreck Strand and Starlit Weald drop with today’s update. The others will follow later. Of course, with the new update focusing on an island and surrounding areas, it stands to reason that the new skimmer updates would allow for better exploration of the sea. Players can also expect new high-end content with the introduction of new raid encounters for groups of up to ten players featuring creatures from the new zones.
