Damn, what a long and arduous road it's been for Fractured Online. I recapped the road Dynamight Studios took with gamigo, removing the game from Steam, and more in my previous piece, so make sure to get caught up on it if you love MMORPG drama.
However, the day has finally come and Fractured Online is now F2P. You can hit up Steam and get started in the self-proclaimed "first open-world Sandbox MMORPG featuring action combat, interactable environments, player-driven economy, and universe colonization."
Along with the F2P release, the game's first season kicks off and it'll run for 90 days. During the season, all players can take part in gaining rewards as you increase season progress. You don't need to be a VIP sub or pay anything extra to get started. There's no "battle pass" that you need to buy or anything. If you are a VIP though, you do get an additional rewards track through the season...so yeah, it works like a traditional battle pass centered around an optional sub rather than a separate purchase.
Remember, guild season rewards aren't given out until the end of the season.
It's pretty basic as far as the process. Do things in game (like quests), earn Glory to advance your season progress, get up to 100 levels of rewards including things like gold or crafting materials. VIP accounts get an extra 100 levels to keep farming up runes and schematics. However, runes and schematics are actually intended to be rewards from dungeons and NPC crafting orders in the future. They're only included in this season to allow you to craft artifacts before new features are added.
The same strategy applies to guilds, except you're farming "Supremacy" instead of "Glory." Farm your Glory, and all Glory farmed by members of the guild also scores the guild Supremacy on a set ratio.
Guild alliances have also been added.
