The wait for Grinding Gear Games’ next Path of Exile entry is almost over – particularly for those who’ve thrown down the cash on one of the action RPG’s various supporter packs. Yesterday, the developer hosted a lengthy livestream offering players information on what to expect from the game.
The stream covers everything from classes to endgame. Luckily they broke it into chapters so those wanting details on a specific thing can easily find what they’re looking for. However, dedicated Path of Exile players will likely want to watch the entire thing.
Path of Exile 2 is set 20 years after the original game, and players are given the mission of tracking down the Seed of Corruption and stopping the Count of Ogham from using its power. Of course, this is the PoE universe, so there will be plenty of friends and enemies to encounter along the way as they travel through Wraeclast.
The game will offer six playable classes at launch: Monk, Warrior, Ranger, Mercenary, Witch, and Sorceress. Monk and Warrior offer melee play, with the former being for those who like something more fast-paced. Warrior on the other hand is slower-paced, but hits hard. Ranger and Mercenary are both ranged classes, with the latter using a crossbow that uses different ammo types. Of course, Witch and Sorceress are the casters. Witches cast chaos spells and the Sorceress uses the elements in her work. These are just the starting classes. More will be added as time goes on.
As for the endgame, Path of Exile 2 boasts up to seven systems centered around crafting, bosses, unique encounters, and more. Progressing through the endgame will allow players to unlock special passive trees that can change how endgame mechanics work. A full rundown of all the content is available in the video below. You can also check out the handy FAQ the GGG team has created. Yes, early access will already contain quite a bit of endgame content.
If you haven’t purchased a starter pack but would like to, there are seven different packs available ranging from $30 to $480. Note that the price differs based on the platform for three of the packs as the PC version of those packs includes physical items while the console versions do not.
