Hearthstone’s Latest Patch Introduces New Mini-Set And Updates To Arena And Twist

Today, Blizzard dropped patch 28.4 in Hearthstone, taking the adventures of the Bloodrock Mining Co. deeper than before. The card game's update adds a new 72-card mini-set, Delve into Deepholm. Thirty-eight of the cards are completely new and can be obtained in Showdown in the Badlands packs or as part of the full 72-card set. The set will run players $15 or $70 depending on whether they want the normal or all-Golden version. The latter also includes a bonus Diamond copy of the Deepminer Brann Legendary minion.

Among the cards in the set, players will find 4 Legendaries, an Epic, 17 Rares, and 16 Commons. There are three new neutral Excavate Treasures, one for each rarity. In addition, Shaman and Paladin each have a new class-exclusive Excavate Legendary Treasure, and a new Hero Skin is now available for Jaina.

The update also updates the Arena as a new season begins. The new rule this season is that the last pick of each draft is to be one of a curated pool of Duels Treasures. The first pick continues to be a Legendary card and no other Legendaries will be included in the Draft.

As for Twist, it will return in February with a new season, new card pool, and new rule – Commons only. These Commons can only be drawn from sets available prior to the introduction of Demon Hunter, and Caverns of Time. A list of eligible sets can be found in the patch notes.

Finally, a Lunar New Year event kicks off on January 30. It runs until February 3, during which time players can complete quests to earn special rewards – including 6 Signature Cards.

Note: Activision Blizzard has been sued by California’s Civil Rights Department, alleging violations of California’s Fair Employment and Housing Act and Equal Pay Act. CEO Bobby Kotick is alleged to have known about the alleged violations within his company. These allegations have all been denied by Activision Blizzard and the company points to additional diversity and inclusion training as past examples of taking the accusations seriously at the time they were made.This case has been settled for $54 million.
