Hotta Studio launched the first Neverness to Everness content update since its launch a couple of days ago. Aside from additional story content and new playable characters, it brought new co-op content and the free-to-play open-world game’s first collaborative event with Porsche.
This isn’t the first time a gacha game has done a collab with a car company. Zenless Zone Zero did one with Aston Martin last year. That said, while I love ZZZ and the Victoria Housekeeping faction they tied the collab to, a car-related collab (of any kind) makes more sense in NTE. After all, players actually drive in NTE and collect and mod vehicles for racing.
So, it wasn’t really surprising that Hotta Studio had a collaboration event set up with Porsche before the game even launched. It was, however, a little surprising that they chose to kick it off with the game’s first update, particularly because the event is its own special series of gacha pulls and it would be running alongside the run for a character a lot of people want, both because she’s adorable and apparently is a rather good team mate for a couple of characters.
As a result, some of us were thinking we’d be stuck choosing between Lacrimosa and the Porsche collab. Yet, in my experience, at least, this isn’t the case – for a couple of reasons.
First, NTE’s entire gacha system works differently from what we’re used to. There is no 50/50. Whatever character you’re rolling for is guaranteed within 90 rolls of the dice. At 70, the board changes to increase your chance of landing something good. Second, you’re not just rolling for the character. When each new character’s banner shows up, it’s accompanied by a personalized glider, vehicle livery, and an outfit only obtainable through rolls. The thing is, each of these items will simply be gifted to players after they roll a specific number of times, whether they get them through chance or not.

Of course, players still have to roll for the Arcs that constitute character weapons, and that requires a different in-game currency. But, the system guarantees that if you get an S-Rank weapon in a roll, it will be the one you’re after. So, so far, I’ve managed to get every S-Rank character with their own banner since the game launched.
Now, as mentioned earlier, the Porsche collaboration is its own gacha event. But it’s different. First off, while players can use the game’s gacha-specific currency “Annulith” to roll for the items in the Porsche event, they don’t have to. There’s the option to use the game’s primary currency, “Fons”, instead. Granted, you need a lot of Fons. But if you’ve been playing since launch, it’s not too bad.
The event has fifteen different rewards players can roll for. They can only get each of these rewards once. Of course, there’s the car and the collab outfit. There are also other “cosmetic” items like a namecard and an avatar frame. Some currencies necessary for leveling are also included. And two of the rewards will give players a total of 600,000 Fons. Players also get Fabricated Dice to use on the standard gacha board.
When a reward is received, it’s checked off, and the pool shrinks while the number of Annulith or Fons needed to roll again goes up.

That last bit might seem really bad for players. But I don’t think it is, for a couple of reasons. First off, by this point, players are making a passive income via their five coffee shops. They will also make Fons for most other activities, including via the game’s hobby system. In fact, fishing is an excellent way to make Fons. And, since a casual outfit is locked behind hitting level 10 on fishing, a lot of people are busy grinding that out anyway.
I’ve already picked up over half the items available in the event in just a couple of days, without spending any real-world money. Neither of them is the car or outfit yet, but I am busy trying to level up my fishing. My coffee shops are making money, and of course, I can always go do the bank heist event (which also has an outfit and other items locked behind it).
There is, of course, the one other catch when talking about all of this. Doing all that fishing, heisting, and whatever else to rake in the Fons is going to take up a lot of time, right? Well, we have over a month to get it done. So, having already knocked seven items off the list of what’s available, I’m not extremely worried. It does mean I won’t be buying the next apartment until I’ve got the items from the event, but the apartments will continue to be there.
And, I don’t feel like I have to worry about the event affecting me trying to land the game's next character, Chaos, when he drops. Overall, even with the Porsche event going on, the game’s gacha system doesn’t feel nearly as stressful as a lot of the others.
As I mentioned above, I haven’t spent money on Annulith for either banner. And I doubt I will have to. That’s not to say people won’t. But it will be more of a personal call rather than something players absolutely have to do in order to get both a Lacrimosa and the car. Now, if you’re going for multiple Lacrimosas. Well, that’s pretty much always going to cost you.
