Collecting "shines" in Rift used to be one of my favorite things to just chill and do in the MMORPG back in the day. It may have truly been one of my first "stream something on one monitor, play on the other" MMO pastimes. When the "Shiny Shenanigans" event game around, this was doubly so. Shiny Shenanigans sees Artifact Piñatas spawning in almost every zone in the game.
Breaking these will reward you with artifacts from the Shiny Shenanigans Artifact Sets. Most of these sets have around 30+ artifacts in them, so you have a fair amount of grinding to do if you're starting from scratch. That said, if you're still playing Rift, you've probably started making progress on these already or you've already completed them.
Completing any set rewards you with "Artifact Eyes" that allow your character's eyes to glow. The only difference between each completed set is the color of the Artifact Eyes you get. Since the official post shows nothing more than really the date the event starts and ends (it starts today and runs over the weekend to the 10th), you may want to check out the full guide over on CADRIFT so you can try to pinpoint the color you're after where possible.
As an interesting bit of Rift lore, this event actually broke back in 2022 under gamigo's watch. It hadn't worked in subsequent versions until late in 2024 when gamigo finally figured out the issue. It ran smoothly at that time, so let's hope it continues to work this time around.
But hey, at least this finally moves Rift's Fae Yule holiday event out of the number one spot on the official site's rotating banner...
