Earlier this week I let you know that 1047 Games had an announcement incoming. While the developers of Splitgate decided a while back to start work on a new project related to the IP and do it in Unreal Engine 5, we didn't know if we were looking at a full sequel or maybe just a remaster of some type.

Well today was announcement day and we're looking at a full-blown sequel. Splitgate 2 is planned as a 4v4, F2P, first-person, shooter game taking full advantage of both the new engine and the portal like features of the original. I've posted the new trailer below, but I suggest actually visiting the game's official site to watch the trailer. There's two versions: the cinematic trailer (the one I posted below), and an "interactive" version of that same trailer. This version of the video provides details on the maps shown, character bios for those that appear on screen, details on the game's three factions, and even a chance to hear alternate voice over lines. It's pretty neat.

The site also provides links to the companion app which delves even further into characters and lore with some collectibles to get along the way.

Splitgate 2 is expected to release in 2025 and is available to wishlist on Steam right now. The game will release on PC, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.

As for the original Splitgate, the team does not currently plan to shut those servers down. You're still good to play there for now.
