Marvel Rivals has had a number of headlines this week with the hero-shooter dropping its mid-season update, completing the launch of the full Fantastic Four, and seemingly contracting development outside of China by laying off a number of US-based staff.
Today the team has announced that Blitz, a popular third-party plugin, is being added to the game's list of software considered "cheating." Blitz is used by players in many games like Rocket League, League of Legends, hell, it even attaches to Minecraft. The tool is used to gather data that typically isn't readily viewable by players. In the case of Marvel Rivals, Blitz could show players various damage and healing statistics, predict Ultimate abilities, and more. NetEase feels that this isn't exactly sporting or fair.
If you've used the plugin before, don't worry. There aren't going to be any retroactive penalties. However, going forward, if you use Blitz while playing Marvel Rivals you could find yourself on the disciplinary end of the game's cheating policies.
"Players who have previously used this software will not face any penalties, as long as you refrain from using it in future games. To uphold justice in our gaming universe and protect the integrity of your account, we strongly urge you to refrain from using any third-party plugins. Together, we can forge a vibrant and heroic gaming environment," reads the announcement in part.
So yeah, you probably want to shut that down now.
