Keeping balance across a roster of heroes that is constantly expanding can't be an easy task. It's probably even harder when the F2P hero shooter plans to add a new hero every month going forward. Marvel Rivals has stayed away from large-scale changes when possible, but the team recognizes there is a need for a bit of a shift as Season 2 nears its halfway point.
Two larger changes are coming just in time for the arrival of Ultron in 2.5. The first change caters to those of you playing Strategist roles. Certain Strategists are about to have their damage output buffed to make them more of a threat. This change is aimed at lightening the load of others a bit and hopefully allow for a broader range of team composition possibilities.
On top of that, a few heroes are getting specific changes. Groot and Captain America will see slight reductions in survivability. Spider-Man's Amazing Combo damage range will be slightly decreased, Doctor Strange will require less energy for his ultimate, and Winter Soldier's Tainted Voltage and Team-Up Ability will be slightly buffed. More changes could follow later, but NetEase is treading a bit cautiously to start.
The team has also heard quite a bit of feedback from players on the Competitive Performance Points system. Duelists have been pretty much ok when it comes to the system's calculations, but Vanguards and Strategists have been at a bit of a disadvantage. NetEase will be updating these calculations to balance out the data.
"Balancing the game and rank adjustments is a challenging endeavor, and we can't guarantee perfection 100% of the time. However, we remain humble and attentive, striving to address issues promptly and enhance your experience," says the team.
