Two weeks ago, Evercore Heroes announced their new name, Evercore Heroes: Ascension, and teased a "new way to play" the co-op MOBA/roguelite game. The team at Vela Games followed up with a brief trailer showing off a new "Hero" mode that is meant to be played solo.
Now we have a few more details on the upcoming feature, how it changes (or doesn't change) the future development of the game, what Hero mode will look like, and how the modes will differ (besides just the number of players.)
Hero mode will allow you to take to the field alone and challenge waves of monsters and bosses. Of course, this mode will have changes made to the number of monsters and such, but don't expect it to just be "easier" than the 3v3 mode, the team wants it to be challenging. They also want it to serve a purpose. Sure, players have asked for a solo mode and it's great for testing out a hero you're unfamiliar with, but what's the point?
Those are some of the things the team is still considering. Progression, integration with the normal 3v3 play so that the team isn't trying to essentially balance 2 different games, and more challenges face the team with this mode. It'll be interesting to see how they deal with them.
If you're concerned about solo play becoming the focus, don't be, at least not yet. Vela recognizes that the 3v3 game is the heart of Evercore Heroes: Ascension.
Hero mode is still experimental right now and doesn't have a release date, but if you find it intriguing, keep your eye on the team's work.
