We're just 12 days away from Amazon Games re-releasing New World in the form of New World: Aeternum. On October 15th, the "previously an MMORPG, now a co-op RPG" returns to consoles and PC with new content, revamped content, and quite the laundry list of other changes.
Raiding, for example, will finally become a thing as the team already teased the first "Hive of Gorgons" 10-player raid.
As the launch nears, the marketing obviously increases and today see the team drop the full launch trailer. I've included it below for you. I just have to say, whether you like New World or not, the trailer is kind of awesome. It isn't gameplay, of course, but it is very well choreographed and produced, and would likely pump up potential new players. Hell, even PC players that may still be feeling miffed at a drought content-wise for them will probably enjoy the trailer.
That said, there's a couple of interesting things in the trailer that I think should be pointed out. That said, this is, again, not a gameplay trailer so I am totally speculating on some things here. I did reach out to the team to see if I could confirm what I think below and if they reply I'll update this piece.
At about the 45 second mark, we see someone use what looks to be a pistol. That may not be "totally" new as Amazon has mentioned the addition of a pistol weapon since as early as 2020. The weapon was also datamined. Whether this is a tease for their inclusion at launch or just an effort to make a trailer look more snazzy is the speculation part. Hopefully, we get an answer on that from the team.
Even more interesting is that about about the 1 minute mark in the trailer, we see what looks (again, I am speculating) to be a character using pistols in both hands. To date, you can't dual wield in New World. There's been speculation that daggers would allow dual wielding at some point, but that was never confirmed.
Now THAT could be interesting. I'd love to see dual wielding in New World: Aeternum. Hopefully it isn't just trailer fluff. I'll keep you posted if I hear back with any type of confirmation on either of my speculations.
