Today, Hotta studio revealed what’s coming in Neverness to Everness’ Version 1.2 update “999 Nights”, which they referred to as “1000 Less 1 Nights”, in the latest special program. Version 1.2 is going to be a bit of a deviation from the game’s main story line. In fact, it takes place in the future in the game’s timeline. This means that what we’ll be doing now technically comes after Version 1.3 where the “Scarlet Letter” story will be concluded.
In 1.2, Mint will invite the Appraiser and two new friends from her department at the BAC, CSU-2, who also happen to be the new characters being released in this version; the dragon girl Shinku and our little sheep girl friend from the island, Iroi to play 999 Nights, the latest anomaly tabletop game. This isn’t just a game where you sit and roll dice. Instead, the players are taken into the game world, assigned appropriate classes and go on an adventure.
Basically, Hotta took a break from the free-to-play action RPG's ongoing storyline to drop us into a fantasy RPG game complete with evil dragons, gear systems, and NPCs handing out quests. I suspect this side trip is partially because Hotta is working to make changes players asked for before dropping the next main story update.
The board game adventure is intended to be long-term content. Playing through it will earn players special currency that can be used to purchase the outfits worn in the board game universe to wear in Hetherau. Once the story is completed, players will be able to go back and play through again, unlocking more areas, story content, and side quests, and more of the currency needed to purchase outfits.
Speaking of the outfits, there are quite a few being introduced in this update. About a dozen of them will come from the 999 Nights story content. And each of those are dyable. Players can also look forward to a new bike, of sorts, in the new update. The Draco can strafe sideways and take to the air for a short while, which should make getting around even more interesting. Shinku will be able to drive this bike as well.
As mentioned, two of the participants in this boardgame are the update’s new playable characters. Both are members of CSU-2, alongside Mint. Shinku, the dragon girl is a Cosmos character with two combat kits and forms who uses hand-to-hand combat.
The other girl, Iroi, we’ve met before. That would be the sheep girl from the island. She’s an anima character who fights alongside three little lamb plushies. She’s also a support character capable of raising down characters under the right circumstances. Of course she can do general healing as well. She also has a special ability that allows her to receive useful items for petting small critters in the open world.
Shinku will be available to roll on on July 8, when the update launches. Iroi’s board will drop on July 29. As is standard for new characters their board will come with an outfit, glider, and vehicle skin. City wear and summer outfits will also be available for each character.
In addition to the new story content and characters, Version 1.2 will introduce new content to the Hobbies. The Sea Angler hobby is getting a big update for those who want to keep the fish they catch and turn them into pets. Now, players will be able to place the fish they catch in tanks in their home. However, they will need to care for them properly: making sure fish are in the right kind of tank – fresh or salt water, are in environments that best fit their temperament – some fish will need to be alone, and things like Ph are level. If that feels like a lot, don’t worry. It can all be automated.
The update also introduces a new style of Mahjong and a new decorating feature, the décor blueprint. Décor blueprint allows player to create decorating blueprints that can be shared with others on Bagel.
Players can also look forward to a few quality-of-life improvements. Tweaks are being made to the avatar appearance on the player profile, the portable player, and progression menus. A player report feature has been added to the racing mini-game. Players can now now hide part of certain character outfits. Fight Club result scording has been tweaked. And players can now reduce the boss fight difficulty after they reach Appraisal level 5.
The update brings new events as well. These include a multiplayer auction event, where you compete with other players at the acution, a multiplayer hide-and-seek event, and a fishing event. In addition, players who create a character and open the mailbox before Version 1.2 drops will receive a special S-Class character selection box that will grant players their choice of one of the six standard S-Class characters: Sakiri, Baicang, Hathor, Fadia, Daffodill, and Jiuyan.
On an additional note, the game will also be launching on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and Galaxy store when the update drops on July 8.
Of course, the stream included redemption codes. These are: SHINKU0708, 999NIGHTS, and IROI0729.
