Kind of a weird one to be writing about, right? It's true though! Black Desert Console did just get an update that added new content to the Jordine Saga and main quest line. This is a bit of a revamp that PC players actually received just a few weeks ago. While MMORPG fans really want all platforms updated at the same time, it's still not unusual to see PC players get an update and then see console players get that update a few weeks later.
What is a bit more unusual, though, is to have PC players get a full expansion then get no word on that expansion coming to consoles at all. That was the case with Black Desert's Mountain of Eternal Winter expansion. Eternal Winter launched on the PC version of the game way back in April of 2022.
Yes, that's over 2 years ago. Console players have still been waiting. Granted, the PC and the console versions of Black Desert aren't like your typical MMORPG, being run by two different teams entirely, but that's still a long wait if you play on PlayStation or Xbox.
Luckily, that wait is almost over. August 7th is the magic date.

Behind the gates, this snow-filled region features new monsters to fight, new story to experience, and more! pic.twitter.com/YKNTqh5JKO
The announcement was teased at the end of a trailer yesterday and confirmed on the game's X account today. I think it's a bit weird that this news, which would certainly be welcomed by Black Desert's console fans, wasn't announced as part of the recent Heidel Ball. That seems like a great place to have dropped this news.
Eternal Winter's Drakania melee class did already make its way to the console version back in 2022, but now players will get a new region to explore that's (spoiler?) covered in snow, new quests, and rewards. In the new content, you will have to worry about getting frostbite. That's right, if you don't remember, this was the expansion that introduced that mechanic and required you to keep yourself warm in a number of ways.
I've placed not only the video where the date was teased at the end below, but also an old developer commentary trailer for Eternal Winter so you can refresh your cold memories ahead of launch.
