They say cheaters never prosper. While that may not always be true, it does sometimes turn out to be at least a little accurate. If nothing else, you’ll definitely suffer if you’re caught, which is what happened to Fortnite player Morgan ‘RepulseGod’ Bamford.
Bamford won $10,000 in the duos section of the 2023 Fortnite Championship Series. However, after Epic Games discovered he cheated by sharing his battle royale account with another player in order to qualify for the tournament, the company disqualified him and sued him. The end result is that he has since been banned from participating in any future tournaments. He also had to return the prize money, which was then donated to charity. And, just to rub it in, the company made him post an apology video. He did not, however, elect to appear in the video, instead opting to go with a simple text slideshow.
He ends the video with the statement that he “won’t ever cheat in Fortnite again.” Which… Yeah? Interestingly, this does beg the question as to whether he had cheated before. As noted on PCGamer, he’s been competing in the Fortnite pro scene for a while – since 2019 to be exact. During that time he’s accumulated a few wins. The post does not state whether he’d cheated on any of those occasions, or whether or not Epic even looked into it. It probably doesn’t matter much at this point since he’s barred from competing again.
